Presented by The Arts House
Tu(r)ning Classics is a performance-based forum showcases a selection of beautiful lyrics of songs from popular Malay movies such as Gurindam Jiwa (1965), Lanchang Kuning (1962), Hang Tuah (1956). The politics of this period are captured in both the lyrics and music, which interlock and reflect the cultural nuances of the time. This forum aims to highlight the importance of understanding and appreciating the contexts of the lyrics when listening to songs. This programme features Dr. Azhar Ibrahim, Aidli Mosbit, Sanif Olek, and Aqmal and will be presented predominantly in Malay (English references and explanations will be added at appropriate points).
