Golden Point Award Workshop Series: Malay Poetry



This Malay poetry workshop by renowned writer, Isa Kamari, will shed insights on the essential qualities of poetic language and principles of aesthetics and techniques used to craft beautiful and meaningful poems. Participants will also find out how a poet's mind and temperament affect their poetry. Expect to be actively engaged in discussions and create poems during the session.

This workshop will be held at Goodman Arts Centre, Meeting Room 3.

About Isa Kamari
A graduate from the National University of Singapore and the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Isa Kamari has written eight novels in Malay: Satu Bumi (lit. One Earth), Kiswah, Tawassul (lit. Intercession), Menara, Atas Nama Cinta (lit. Nadra), Memeluk Gerhana, Rawa and Duka Tuan Bertakhta. He has also published two collections of poems, Sumur Usia and Munajat Sukma, a collection of short stories, Sketsa Minda, and a collection of theatre scripts, Pintu. He was conferred the SEA Write Award (2006), the Cultural Medallion (2007) and Singapore’s highest Malay literary award, the Anugerah Tun Seri Lanang (2009).

Seorang siswazah dari Universiti Nasional Singapura dan Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Isa Kamari telah menulis lapan novel dalam bahasa Melayu: Satu Bumi, Kiswah, Tawassul, Menara, Atas Nama Cinta, Memeluk Gerhana, Rawa dan Duka Tuan Bertakhta.  Beliau juga telah menerbitkan dua kumpulan puisi, Sumur Usia dan Munajat Sukma, sebuah kumpulan cerpen, Sketsa Minda, dan sebuah kumpulan skrip teater, Pintu.  Beliau telah dianugerahi Anugerah Penulis Asia Tenggara (2006), Pingat Kebudayaan (2007) dan anugerah terulung susastera Melayu Singapura, Anugerah Tun Seri Lanang (2009).
