Dreaming in Black and White – Portrait of a Singapore Artist Tang Ling Nah
Known for her charcoal drawings and charcoal-based site-specific installations, Singaporean artist Tang Ling Nah explores urban conditions and the city’s human relationships through shades of black, grey and white.
In celebration of the 15th year of her professional practice, Tang has embarked on an ambitious arts project, presenting a new documentary film and a solo retrospective exhibition. Directed by Singapore filmmaker Lei Yuan Bin, Dreaming in Black and White: Portrait of a Singapore Artist Tang Ling Nah journeys through Tang’s artworks, art-making processes and daily life. Through interviews and multi-disciplinary collaborations, the film takes audiences into an immersive exploration of the spaces – both real and illusionary – that have inspired her creations.
For her solo exhibition, Tang will present selected past charcoal drawings, paintings, sketches, photo and video documentations of her site-specific performances, and a new dance film.
